This Case Epilogue written February 1, 2017 is intended to provide context to this web site as it documents a Canadian constitutional challenge spanning from 2004 to 2016. Bruce Montague determined to expose the constitutional violations in the Canadian Firearms Act. After being charged, mounting a constitutional challenge and appealing to the Supreme Court of Canada, Montague's case was dismissed without reasons. With Bruce in jail, the Montagues then faced an another twist of injustice -- the confiscation of their home and property by the Ontario government. The Montagues fought the civil forfeiture of their home for years until, in the summer of 2016, the Canadian Constitution Foundation was instrumental in negotiating with the Ontario Civil Forfeiture department to drop the lien against the Montague home. The Canadian Constitution Foundation deserves our support as they continue to fight other cases of injustice around the country. YOU COULD BE NEXT! Canada is undergoing a quiet revolution and your fundamental rights and freedoms are at stake!

Sept 23: Appeal Court Date Finally Set

News Archive Index

Dear Supporters:

I just got word about our appeal date but first I want to mention my trip to southern Ontario. I just got back from taking my daughter Katey to Brock university in St Catharines. Providence was with us while we were down there because the Sporting Clubs of Niagara were hosting a gun show that happened to be on the 5th anniversary of my arrest (Sept 11) and invited Donna, Katey and myself to make an appearance there. We accepted and were well received at the show and had a chance to meet and talk with many supporters in person. It's a true blessing to have opportunities like this spontaneously arise!

A big thank-you to the Sporting Clubs of Niagara for their continued moral and financial support over the years! They are a great example of a pro-active organization willing to get involved both politically and in cases like ours. Clubs like this are making a difference by getting actively involved defending our rights in Canada. Keep up the good work!

Now on to the issue of our appeal; I just got word from our lawyer that our appeal date has been set for February 18, 2010 in the Ontario court of appeals (Toronto). After I get the official paperwork stating the time and which court room it will be held in I will relay that to you. But for now I hope that those who are able to attend will keep this date in mind. I'm hopeful that we can fill the courtroom to show that this is an important issue.

On another issue; There is a man who is fighting for his firearms back, in Vancouver on October 1st (next week). He lost his firearms license due to bureaucratic nonsense but when it was renewed he lost his "grandfather status" which means the state won't allow him to possess certain firearms that he legally acquired. His name is Ed Sherbey and if you are in the area he could use your support in the courtroom. Ed stands little to gain from this and is fighting this at his expense out of principle. The case is being argued by Doug Christie (our lawyer as well) and will be heard at:

    Vancouver Law Courts
#206-800 Smithe Street
Vancouver, BC
The hearing is scheduled for 10:00am

Check the docket for Edward Sherbey when you arrive at the courthouse to get info on which courtroom the hearing will be in and if the time has changed. I am scheduled to be in the Vancouver area at that time and plan on supporting Ed by attending his hearing. We really need to support each other whenever possible and I hope to see many of you there.

Yours in Liberty,

Bruce.

"The government has created a nation of paper criminals. People can be put in jail and lose civil rights and liberties through bureaucratic procedures." "The only thing that is keeping you out of jail is government goodwill." - Ayn Rand
